Why the southeast of Ireland is a tech haven.

This blog highlights the array of opportunities that are available in the south-east of Ireland. Irelands Southeast is the fastest growing region in the fastest growing economy in Europe. The competitive business environment and thriving sectoral ecosystems make the region an ideal location to start-up, grow or locate a business.

So as a reader put yourself in the shoes of a tech CEO, he has decided to station his HQ in Ireland, where in Ireland is yet to be decided. But what might you look for when making this decision,

Low Industrial property costs? Educated workforce? Soaring productivity rates?

These can all be found in abundance in Irelands southeast. Between 2010 – 2017 in terms of productivity rates, the southeast was #1 in Ireland for this. It on average has 50% lower industrial property costs than that of Dublin, and a student population of 25000+. For further information on the impressiveness of this region check out:

In the picture below highlights the big players in the tech industry who already have locations in this growing hub for innovation and technical excellence.

With a growing workforce of over 220000 and financial support from the likes of the Industrial development agency (IDA), the southeast of Ireland seems nothing short of perfect in terms of a location.

The IDA over the last few years have committed to developing this region through property investment programmes, and their continuous partnerships with the 3 institutes of further education, with graduate pools of 5000+ per year.

The link above highlights the confidence the IDA has in the southeast as a region to further develop over the next number of years.

Aside from an education, cost and infrastructure point if view, the southeast region (particularly Co. Waterford) according to Ireland liveability index ranks #1, which I think is just as important.

Do you think that the quality of life in an area should be something a CEO should consider when deciding to relocate his company?
